Ingredients

  • 1 pound (453.59 g) lean ground beef
  • 1-2 tablespoons (14.8 -29.6 g) butter
  • 1 small yellow onion , diced
  • 1 teaspoon (3.23 g) minced garlic
  • 1 small green bell pepper , diced
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon (17 g) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (1.80 g) white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon (2.1 g) paprika
  • 2 teaspoons (4.2 g) creole seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon (9.38 g) cornstarch
  • 1 cup (240 g) beef broth
  • 8 ounces (226.8 g) Provolone Cheese Slices
  • 5-6 brioche hamburger buns or about 8 or more bread rolls

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet or cast iron over medium high – then add ground beef to the pan, cook for about 3-5 minutes or until brown, breaking it up to prevent it from clumping.
  • Remove the beef from the pan – remove excess fat, especially if using regular ground beef. Use your best judgement.
  • Add the butter, onions, garlic , bell peppers and green onions – saute for about 1- 2 minutes.
  • Return minced beef into the pan, followed by ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, white pepper, paprika and creole seasoning. Cook for about 2 minutes.
  • In a small cup mix together the beef stock and cornstarch add to the beef mixture.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until some of the liquid has been reduced. Add salt and pepper mixture to taste.
  • Turn off the heat, add in the provolone cheese.
  • Served on toasted rolls or brioche buns.
