Whisk in flour and continue whisking for a minute or two, to get rid of the raw taste. Stir in Italian seasoning and minced garlic for about 30 seconds.
Slowly add the whole milk, and heavy cream whisking constantly until the mixture has thickened and smooth.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Remove from the heat, add cheese and stir until it is fully incorporated and smooth.
Stir in basil, if desired.
Once cooled, seal and refrigerate up to 5 days.
Notes
Do not put it inside the freezer. Since it’s made with milk and cream, separation may occur.
