Green Beans and Bacon

Green Beans and Bacon – super easy to prepare dish with fresh green beans, bacon bits and garlic. An excellent flavorful side with few simple ingredients that brings a crisp fresh flavor to your holiday or weeknight meal!

Ingredients

  • 1- 1 1/2 pound fresh green beans , trimmed
  • 5-6 slices thick bacon , chopped
  • 5-6 garlic cloves , sliced
  • ½ onion , chopped
  • 1-2 teaspoons creole seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • parmesan (optional)

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add green beans and let it cook for about 4 -5 minutes. Remove and add in cold iced water to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside. This step might be done in advance and refrigerated to save time.
  • Place sauce-pan or skillet on medium high heat, then add bacon, saute until crispy about 6-7 minutes .Remove all but 2-3 Tablespoon bacon grease. You may add more if desired.
  • Add sliced garlic, onion, saute for 2 minutes. Then add green beans and creole seasoning. Continue stirring for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove and top with parmesan cheese.
