Deliciously meaty, flavorful, and tender beef recipe infused with incredible flavors from Creole seasoning and homemade barbecue sauce. You won't believe how simple it is!
Generously season the brisket with salt and pepper, followed by steak seasoning or any favorite seasoning.
Heat oil in a large, heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat, and when hot, add brisket (fat side down). Sear for 4-5 minutes on each side or until browned, flipping once. Transfer to a platter.
Add sliced onions, garlic, and thyme to the same pan. Sauté for 4-5 minutes or until fragrant and onions are translucent. Add the Worcestershire and soy sauce and cook for another minute.
Place sautéed onions at the bottom of the slow cooker, then add the brisket. Top the brisket with three-quarters of the barbecue sauce. Cook on low for about 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours, depending on the size of the brisket.
Turn off the slow cooker and let the beef rest for about 15 minutes with the lid on. Remove brisket, place on a board, brush the top with the remaining barbecue sauce, slice, and serve.
Notes
You can marinate or brine the beef, but it's not necessary.
The barbecue sauce should be enough liquid to cook the beef.
Cooking time will depend on the size of the brisket. Check the internal temperature about an hour before it should be done to determine if it requires more time.
