Steak Tips – delicious steak bites smothered in a savory spicy garlic butter sauce all made in one skillet in under 15 minutes. Quick, easy, mouthwatering skillet steak dish that will become everyone’s most requested dinner!
When it comes to food choices, I’m more of the meaty lover kind of person compared to my husband. He is that type who could eat greens and fruits CONSISTENTLY without batting an eye for a huge piece of a juicy steak on the table. Although he sometimes eats it, it’s just that he can tolerate going for a week or even a month (imagine that) without it. That doesn’t happen to me, obviously. I’d go “hangry” if I miss my steak for a week. And this Steak Tips has been go-to quick and easy steak dinner fix. You’ll see why…
What are Steak Tips?
Steak tips are typically beef meat around the sirloin and round. You might have bought it before as flap meat or flank steak and is known for its loose, long grain with a notable extreme beefy flavor at a good price. Since it has loose and long grain texture, it soaks up marinades pretty well. But it’s not as tender, say, as the tenderloin although it’s tender enough to bite with a bit of chew in between. It’s best cooked at least medium-rare.
What Other Cut of Beef Can You Use for Steak Tips?
Aside from sirloin steak, you could also use rib eye, tenderloin or New York strip steak.
Steak Tip Recipe Ingredients
There are just so many reasons why this sirloin tip steak recipe is a must on a weekly rotation. It’s budget-friendly, quick, easy and very delicious using easy-to-find ingredients. You’ll be needing…
- sirloin steak
- salt
- my homemade Creole Seasoning
- olive oil
- butter (go with the unsalted one)
- garlic (add more if you go nuts with your garlic flavor)
- soy sauce (adjust to taste with more or less)
- Worcestershire Sauce (or replace with extra soy sauce)
- onions (optional)
See what I’m talking about? How could you not like this particular easy beef steak recipe?
Tasty Steak Dinner Sides
Okay, in case you haven’t noticed yet, these steak tips are actually a staple during summertime for barbecue grilling and all of that. You may also serve these steak bites as party appetizers by just spearing them down with toothpicks (see that photo below?). You’d be surprised how they fly off the table sooo quickly! Oooh.. just in time for this coming #SuperBowl. But for regular dinner, I love these served with…
- rice (of course😉 try this Coconut Rice HERE)
- Roast Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- some pasta or zucchini noodles
- Sauteed Mushrooms
- steamed veggies

How To Make Steak Tips
Lightly salt steak. Season with Creole seasoning and pepper to taste. Set aside. Heat oil in a large cast-iron (I used a 12-inch ) or skillet over high heat. Place the steak in the pan in a single layer; you may have to work in batches depending on the size of your pan. You don’t want to crowd the pan. Crowding the pan prevents the steak from browning nicely.
Cook for about 2-3- minutes, on one side until golden brown, then turn and cook about 1-2 minutes on the other side. Repeat with remaining meat if needed. Make space in the pan, add butter, garlic, saute for about 30 seconds then add, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and onions to the pan; cook for 2-3minutes, stirring to coat the meat in the sauce. Sprinkle with parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice or steamed veggies.
Steak Tips
Ingredients
- 1- 1 ½ lbs (453g-680g) top sirloin steak , cut in 1-inch pieces
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 teaspoon (8g-12g) Creole seasoning
- 1 tablespoon (14ml) olive oil
- 2-3 tablespoons (28ml-42ml) butter
- 2 teaspoons (10g) minced garlic
- ½ tablespoon (8.5g) Worcestershire Sauce (replace with extra soy sauce)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) soy sauce (adjust to taste with more or less)
- ½ cup (57.5g) sliced onions (optional)
Instructions
- Lightly salt steak. Season with Creole seasoning and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a large cast-iron (I used a 12-inch ) or skillet over high heat.
- Place the steak in the pan in a single layer; you may have to work in batches depending on the size of your pan. You don’t want to crowd the pan. Crowding the pan prevents the steak from browning nicely.

Tips & Notes:
- Any leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container or frozen up to 2 months. When serving, simply thaw and reheat on the stovetop.
- Avoid using tougher cuts such as chuck steak which is ideal for slow cooking.
- Do NOT crowd the pan. Crowding the pan prevents the steak from browning nicely.
- Please keep in mind that nutritional information is a rough estimate and can vary greatly based on products used.

I cooked in batches the first one I cooked on high like it said and was horrible I cooked the next on medium heat and it was perfect
Amina says
Everyone’s stove is different, and some get hotter than others. While you need high heat to sear the steak tips, you don’t want it so high they scorch.
But I am happy you try it and you like it
